MESSNETZ: PERMOS

The Swiss Permafrost Monitoring Network PERMOS has been documenting changes in alpine permafrost in Switzerland since 2000. In addition to geophysical and kinematic measurement series, borehole temperatures are recorded in 15 different areas. Since 2017, SensAlpin (together with Alpug GmbH and Waljag GmbH) has been operating the borehole and climate measurements at seven sites on behalf of the PERMOS partners. Data quality, long-term stability and data series that are as complete as possible are key requirements. This is achieved thanks to regular maintenance visits and data checks in cooperation with the research institutions.

Overview of PERMOS stations from SensAlpin

Five sites are single stations. Two sites (Schilthorn, Corvatsch) consist of several stations.
