IMIS Mini Station Bülenberg
An IMIS mini-station was installed and put into operation on the Büelenberg near Davos at the end of 2022.
The municipality of Davos wants to use the new station near the Bärgalp/Furegrind avalanche train to monitor the snow and avalanche situation. In this way, a possible closure of the Dischma road can be better assessed.
This project was realised in the course of the annual maintenance round around Davos.Through clever conceptual design, the project costs could be minimised considerably.
Due to the lower snow depth at the site, an IMIS mini-station was installed. All the necessary parameters for SNOWPACK modelling (amount of new snow) are measured on it, so it corresponds to an IMIS snow station. (cf. https://models.slf.ch/docserver/snowpack/html/requirements.html).
Measurement parameters:
- Wind direction and strength
- Air temperature and humidity
- snow depth
- reflected short-wave radiation
- snow surface temperature
SensAlpin and its partners are continuing to develop this IMIS station type. With additional stations of this type, the measurement network can be expanded at low cost.
