Meteostation

This meteostation is used to investigate how high the additional yield of a PV module in the mountains is compared to a PV module in the valley. In addition, the solar radiation is measured in different cardinal directions to see the effect of snow reflections in the surroundings. A photovoltaic system in the mountains has several advantages; for example, the reflections of the snow cover and more intense solar radiation at higher altitudes contribute to a greater yield. The sunshine duration over the entire winter is considerably higher, as there are fewer foggy days than in the valley. Another decisive factor is the efficiency of a solar cell, which is higher at lower temperatures and thus more energy can be generated.

In addition to solar radiation, snow depth, humidity, temperature, wind speed and wind direction are also measured.
